Successful mergers, acquisitions and strategic alliances:
How to bridge corporate cultures
Workshop facilitated by:
Charles Gancel
President of the Board and Managing Partner, ICM Associates
Co-Author of Successful Mergers, Acquisitions and Strategic Alliances
Joint ventures in China’s funds industry have increased dramatically over the last several years. Previously closed industry sectors to foreign investment are gradually opening up, removing previously imposed restrictions and permitting greater access to China’s domestic fund market. According to Yahoo finance, at the end of 2004, foreign joint ventures in China’s fund industry had an estimate of 18.6% market share, up from 8.6% in 2003.
However, according to an AT Kearney study of 230 merged companies, the management of corporate differences is the main reason for failure in a post-merger relationship. This intimate workshop will examine successful strategies for both domestic and international companies looking to attain the synergies and financial gains of a successful joint venture. The workshop leader will provide a unique model to examine, understand and act on cultural differences.
Issues will include:
- Identifying the key issues when entering into a new partnership
- Understanding, analysing and acting on cultural differences
- Introducing a unique and pragmatic diagnostic model: Culture Bridging Fundamentals
- Setting out a strategy for change / integration process
- Pinpointing the different operational issues that exist within organizations of
different corporate cultures
